How To Get Airport Pass In India

Airports in India are manned by Central Industrial Security force (CISF) for whom the Airport Authority(AAI or private operators like GMR) has to pay a fixed amount every year as charges for the security provided. As usual India being a colonist country there are so many red tapes and there is this one organisation called as "Bureau of Civil Aviation Security"shortly known as BCAS which also takes care of office procedures that are related to security.

This post will tell you about how to get One Time Airport Entry Pass(TAEP) from BCAS. Other than BCAS, some privately operated airport also gives passes on payment of fee. But this pass which i am going to detail is completely free.

The Pass is given for a time period of 2 hrs for domestic and 3 hours for international.

Pass will be either for Domestic or International and Departure or Arrival. In case of Departure you can go with your guest upto security check and in case of Arrival you can go upto the front of the Arrival Hall in case of Domestic and in case of International arrival upto Immigration check.

Passes are given for a specific Date and time and will not be allowed after that even if flight gets late. This is kind of stupid but CISF personnel are strict on this.

You have to first write a letter to Regional Director, BCAS, indicating who is coming, what is his position, how many passes you needed and a application form is also(link attached herewith). usually 2 persons are allowed to receive/send off one dignitary. Covering letter + Application form+ Photocopies of ID card.

All these restrictions on timings/number of passes are a thumb rule there is no written rules regarding this. All are allowed to the discretionary power of the Regional Director, BCAS.

One more important thing is the application should be submitted along with the photocopies of ID cards for whom passes are required. Applications wihtout ID card are rejected out rightly.

BCAS office is located at all airports. Ask CISF personnel for the location of office. They most probably  will know of all others. It will not be inside the airport building or anywhere near. It will be a separate office somewhere around the building.

Now to the important question of whom shall get the pass.? Again it is completely discretion of the Regional Director.. usually passes for commoner are not given. For VIP, VVIP it is easy to get. Airline staffs, Pilots usually get for their loved one. Private organisation submit their request when someone important arrive from abroad.

Kudos.. Now that you know one more information and knowledge for the day.

Aurangabad Memories Part 1: Caste & Racism Movements.

Getting a Central Government Employment is a dream for everyone, but for me, i never asked for it but it just fell out of the skies and into my lap. It is a story by itself which i may tell in another blog, but lets focus on the part which i am going to narrate today.

My first posting was in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. A place which i have never even heard in 2013. But I packed my bags and took my sole trip first time in an Air conditioned compartment of an Indian Train.

My first day at the office rather blur at the moment but the first shock came at the dinner that night which was cooked by the helper for me since i am newbie and also a South Indian. A rather old man came for the first time and after formal introduction, he asked for my surname. If anybody new Tamils, you know we dropped our surnames during the self respect movement by Father E.V.K Periyar, we just keep our father names as initials. When I told that i dont have a surname, he was shocked, He told he was a Kshatriya, war lords with such a Pride beaming in his face. Next he shots out asking what was my caste. I was like OMG

Mind you in the twenty years I have in Tamilnadu no one has ever asked me about my caste, sometimes they do try to get my caste asking my family God whom I worship but never, I repeat NEVER asked me directly about my caste. This is first shock to me.

What I was seeing was shocking. Each and every marathi I met here asked three question whenever I met them first.
1. What is your name? Prabhu
2. What is your surname? I don't have a surname
3. You belong to Sc/ST? I was like Ahhh?

Second upper caste people hate them. Once I tell that I am neither lower or upper and belong to a in-between group they openly tell me how much they hate SC/ST, if there is no SC/ST men around. Again a cultural shock. Here upper class hates the lower class but not openly. There is vengeance but they are not expressing it directly and this is very very dangerous because when they get the right opportunity it will lead to community riots.

In Tamilnadu we youngsters even in college or school doesn't care about the caste of the friend, but here young ones are choosy. Yes even at grassroots.

Tamilnadu has the highest reservation 69% and was the first state to implement it. As per supreme court directive reservations can't be more than 50%. Maharashtra follows 50% reservations yet people are very vocal about reservations.

Now for the so called lower caste. People here celebrated Dr.Ambedkar birthday. People means only SC/ST people. Ambedkar is God like figure. All houses of  SC/ST people has his photo. The celebrations of his birthday include so called bike rally Where youngsters carry the blue flag and roam about in street shouting. If this is called uprising of a caste I am sorry this is not uprising.

Also greeting each other SC/ST "JAI BHEEM" another shock for me. Apart from that higher class greets RAM RAM , JAI HARI I was like WTF? We in Tamilnad greets simple "vanakam" equal to namaste.. so God's.

And Placing of various colored flags ( saffron, Green and Blue) cannot be seen anywhere in TamilNadu

Tamilnadu has /had it's own communal riots. Recently SC/ST young man was murdered for loving higher caste girl. there is one party that banks heavily on caste based politics but still uprising for lower caste people started way back in E.V.R .Periyars period. E.V.Periyars Self Respect Movement.  Some 60-70 years back yet no one keeps his photo in home and prays. He himself was opposite for it.

Congress which always said it is non communal historical had upper class leaders and supported upper class, BJP said to be as  communal party Yes Maharashtra votes for them. In Tamilnadu last time Congress was in power was 1967 and I don't see bjp getting into power for another twenty years..

People of north India talk about corrupt politicians of Tamilnad as if theirs are as good as Gandhi. But still the politicians of Tamilnad has did far far more to the well being of SC/ST people than Maharashtra.

Recent riots and violence in Bhima-Koregaon battle anniversary event is totally unnecessary according to me as a victory against upper class some 200 years ago doesnt even matter considering that we are still suppressed.

P.S: all the views are my personal views. I dont support casteism. I am atheist too.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd- Agatha Christie

When everyone said Agatha Christie was the greatest fiction writer of all time., no body can write detective novels like her., I thought it was just bla bla bla.. until.... I read this book. At the end of the book, i was stunned by the conclusion, and I was in a situation to say to everyone that "Agatha Christie" is the greatest fiction writer of all times.

The story is set in a modest village, where the deductive Hercule Poirot has come to spend the rest of his life. Roger Ackroyd is a big shot in the village and he gets murdered. Hercule was the man to solve the case., and he solves it right at the end of the chapter in his own style.

This book is awesome and wonderfully scripted. Until the last moment you cant find the murderer who has came with you all along. I have to accept that i read the novel with full expectation and it did fulfilled my expectations to the limit.

There is a art in storytelling and as a writer myself enjoyed it most. Story telling is a difficult task, which has been done so seamlessly by the author.

But the murderer and the ending affected me personally a lot. I shared most of the characters of the murderer till the last. People like us are dangerous. everyone calls us stupid, incompetence, lean, but the things we plan and do are difficult for others to digest. The ending of the story created a kayos in my heart.

This book is so much worthful, that you could get a doctorate researching it. A book to be in every book shelf. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. Translation in Tamil also available Roger Ackroyd கொல்லப்பட்டார் by Srinivas published by Kannadhasan Pathipagam.

Reaching into the Skies

I could see my wife sobbing in tears.

There was a person looking like a Doctor and he is speaking with my wife., “Look at him, he is brain dead, he is of no use now” Doctor said

“But he is alive”., my wife responded sobbing her cheeks up.

“It is us who are keeping him alive., if we take out the respirator his heart will stop beating.”

My wife is now crying more now, “Please keep that respirator going, don’t take it off” she said

“But now long madam? He is already developing bed sores. Moreover you have to pay Rs.12000 each day for the room., and they say you have already two days in due.”

“I will sell everything to pay you sir., Please keep my husband alive”

“No mam, you don’t get it. He is just breathing, no senses nothing”

I shouted., “Hey Doc., I can hear you. I can HEAR YOU, I am alive” But neither of them couldn’t hear it.

My wife “look at him doctor, his lips are moving, his eye brows are shaking”

“Those are reflex reactions madam “ he said., “ Look at this” he said picking up a small rubber hammer and hit that on my knees”

“Oouch” I cried., “ That hurts you stupid doc”

But he never listened to me., he turned to my wife and said “Did you looked at him? his knees moved, did you say that is because he moved it, NO it is just a reflex action., He doesn’t feel pain or anything”

“Listen to me madam” he continued , “Your husband is brain dead, There is no way he is gonna come back., But you can make lot of peoples live by donating his organs., Those people who you gonna bring back to live will never gonna forget you. You husband will in their bodies., You will have to decide, whether your husband is gonna eat up by the earth or is he gonna be in peoples heart.”

Saying that he went past the door, leaving us alone. My wife was now crying heavily on me. I tried to pick up my hand to her shoulder to console her., but I couldn’t move it.

She came down and gave a kiss on my on forehead and that is when everything went blank.

When I woke up again, I found myself in a endless lawn, lying down , looking into the skies. the stars were twinkling brighter than ever..

அமெரிக்காவில் இருந்து ஒரு அநாதை கடிதம்

Day 1:
I feel very excited . After 6 months of marriage here I am at the United States of America with my hubby. This has been my first flight experience. My husband has left me and came over to America after one month of marriage and it me so much time to get a dependent visa to come here, to stay united with him. Anyway I feel very happy to be back with my husband.

Day 7:
This was my first weekend in US. We went to Universal Studios and DisneyLand. My husband is caring me very much. I am really happy to get such a nice person as my hubby. We had a splendid weekend altogether. It was just like living in a new planet. I wish I could have had him little earlier. But everything is for good. Eilla?

Day 30:
Days here are just going by. Last week we met up with some friends who are all settled here in US from TamilNadu. Occasional they met up each other and set up get together's.  Things are completely different here compared to Chennai. By the way he is little busy with his work and so its bit boring for me.

Day 180:
Six months have passed in a flash. I feel bit lonely though. He is being busy with delivering his project, and I am spending weekends sitting in home. With a dependent Visa I could not secure a job for me. Sitting simply at home. His parents were asking were a good news but we have postponed getting baby by two years so that we could settle up well before we have one. Cant blame him too, Hard working guy. I am expecting the best though.

Day 700: (Two years)
I am conceived now. I dono whether it is a boy or girl. His mother has came from Chennai to look after me during pregnancy. Two years have gone by this project has been extended by another 2 years. So we are gonna be here another 2 years. So we are gonna be here another 2 years at least.  I miss my dad and mom. His promise that we will return back to India in two years is now extinct. But everything is for our baby only. When we get back to India we will be settled..

Day:- 5 years
My daughter Sandiya Raghunathan is now 3 years old. Up and going to school. He has shifted to a US based company. I have also applied for a Independent Visa. These 5 years in home, i have lost everything except for my child. I have spent the last 3 years with her and it is going to be really tough for me to spend the time when she goes to School. She has been giving me company all the way through in my lonely times. I am gonna miss her lot when she goes to School.

Day:- 10 years
I dono where is he now. May be in japan or in Midway flying in plane crossing Atlantic  Sandhya is growing fast and my husband has secured a green card.. So now we are citizens of United states of America. In the past years we went to India twice. Once when his father died and other for his sisters marriage. Years have passed in looking for cheap flights for India. Now my parents are with my brother and his kids are really blessed to have them. But he is not that much earning as we do.. But does it matter??

Day:- 20 Years
Sandiya has become Sandy now. Growing in US made her a typical american. Brings Blacks to home, stays out overnight, parties and what else. Sometimes it seems to me what has I earned up here. Nothing other than a Ostentating life. When I came to US I promised my friend that I will return in 2 years, huh., 20 years have passed.. What a life? Or have i led a life. I have to ask to my friend only. My hubby still promises me that he will get me back to India  But how?? As a person with a soul or as a lifeless body. But I still doubt that, because going to India in a coffin costs more than going in compressed cabin...
